If you are staying in Malta, you MUST tour the entire archipelago made up of 3 islands. The main island contains Valletta, the country's capital and 16th century walled city. You can spend a cultural day there, enjoy the museums, the imposing churches, and soak up the Maltese culture.
The best way to visit the rest of the island is to rent a car. This will allow you to discover the interior of the land and the different spots but also to get away from tourist paths.
Please note: we drive on the left in Malta! Otherwise, you can take advantage of public transport, but it is a bit expensive.
My recommendations:
- Stay on St Julians if you are there to party.
- Take a trip to St Peter's Pool, to dive into the turquoise water (very touristy attention in summer).
- Walk 5 minutes more after the tourist beaches (following the seaside) to discover places isolated from the crowds.
Gozo & Comino Islands
The island of Comino is very small. This is just a spot where boats stop for tourists to enjoy the different shades of blue in the sea. It is a place to spend a day sunbathing, swimming and taking some pretty pictures.
That's why I preferred Gozo, which is more natural and less touristy than the main island of Malta. If you are looking to relax during your holiday, Gozo is a place very much appreciated. The high cliffs will give you new perspectives and the small towns will make you enjoy the moment. There are also many small colorful villages by the sea to take wonderful photos.
My recommendations:
- Eat seafood at Tmun restaurant.
- Discover the Bay of Ramla and its surroundings.
- Buy a cocktail on Comino and laze around all day.
